Horton The Elephant Is Going To Be Caged

I have the utmost respect for nature preserves. Any organization that has the most genuine intention of helping living creatures is alright in my book. Although I respect what is being done for these animals, I can't help but feel a mixture of opposing emotions. Caged animals are depressed. It can't be stated in a simpler way. While I was at the Columbus Zoo last summer for the free admission for Veterans and their families I couldn't help but feel ashamed as I photographed these animals. That shame was at its peak when this beautiful female gorilla stared back into my eyes. Perhaps it is my imagination although I think not, but she truly looked disgusted.
Animals aren't human beings. Fact. Animals are creatures possessing the beautiful gift we call Life. Fact. They deserve as much respect as humans. Period.
